Our Programmes

The Mindful Foundation

The Mindful Foundation works to prevent harmful behaviour, support healing and build safer, healthier communities through trauma-informed psychological education, targeted interventions and practical tools that address the root causes of abusive and violent behaviour, while supporting self-development, emotional resilience and positive change.

Think Different: Harmful Behaviour Prevention Training

Think Different is our trauma-informed harmful behaviour prevention programme for children and young people aged 8–18. Rather than waiting until harm has occurred, Think Different addresses developmental factors that can contribute to violence and abusive behaviour, including emotional, psychological and social influences.

Through 24 structured lessons across eight modules, young people develop emotional regulation, self-worth, resilience, healthy relationship skills, greater self-awareness and practical ways to manage conflict, stress and difficult experiences.

We train teachers and educators to deliver Think Different independently, creating a sustainable model that can become part of everyday school and community life. Trainees gain an understanding of how harmful and abusive behaviours can develop, alongside the neuroscience of emotions, trauma and emotional processing. They are also introduced to self-development and mindful techniques that support their own self-worth, emotional regulation and resilience, helping them manage stress and navigate challenges both personally and professionally.

Already delivered across organisations in South Africa to more than 2,000 children and young people, Think Different has shown positive outcomes in emotional regulation, self-esteem, stress management, healthier beliefs and reductions in harmful behaviour.

Think Different. Be the Difference.

ListenApp

ListenApp is a discreet safety app designed to help people experiencing domestic abuse reach support at moments when using a phone openly may be unsafe.

Hidden behind an everyday-looking interface, ListenApp enables users to trigger alerts to trusted contacts through discreet voice or touch commands, helping them signal that they are in danger without drawing attention to what they are doing. The technology can also securely capture audio evidence, creating another potential layer of protection and support.

Developed with safeguarding and victim-support organisations, ListenApp has been designed around the realities of coercive control and high-risk environments, where unlocking a phone, making a call or visibly asking for help may increase danger.

By combining trauma-informed thinking with accessible technology, ListenApp helps bridge the gap between traditional support services and the moment a victim urgently needs help.

End Silence. Stop Violence.

Inside Power

Inside Power is a trauma-informed reoffending prevention programme, designed to help individuals understand the underlying causes of harmful behaviour and develop practical tools to respond differently to prevent future harm and create safer communities.

Rather than focusing only on behaviour itself, the programme explores emotional triggers, learned patterns, trauma and past experiences that can contribute to harm. Participants are supported to build self-awareness, take responsibility for their actions, regulate difficult emotions and develop healthier ways of responding.

Inside Power has been piloted in HMP Liverpool with those who had committed domestic violence or other violent crimes.

Evaluation showed improvements across all ten measures assessed, including understanding anger triggers, knowing how to pause and calm before reacting, emotional regulation, recognising the impact of behaviour on others and believing that positive change is possible. The programme also has the potential to create wider benefits for partners, children and families.

The pilot also highlighted strong participant engagement, with men openly exploring difficult experiences and beginning to identify deeper roots of harmful behaviour.

Own the past. Change the future.
